Do we spray windows before or after render?

It is very important that if you are planning on rendering your property that the window spraying is completed after the rendering.  The main reason for this is that a decent rendering firm will tape up all windows albeit with low tack tape and film.  This can interfere with recently sprayed windows making the paint delaminate away from the windows.  Whilst this may not always be the case, we have had this occur on a number of jobs and we will now no longer render properties where the windows have been sprayed.

When do we have windows fitted?

Windows and doors that need fitting in the areas that are to be rendered, should always be fitted prior to rendering.  We render to the frames of the window or door casing so it is imperative that these are fitted first.

So if you are fitting, do it first and if you are spraying, do it second.  Ideally render should be one of the last trades on site, so that the render stays pristine.
